Two world-renowned composers/producers who have written and produced several of well-loved American singer Jennifer Lopez’s hits are on a two-week trip to Ho Chi Minh City, earlier this week, for a music project with a Vietnamese-Australian singer/songwriter.
Swedish songwriter/producer AJ Junior – or Achraf Janussi – and his British colleague Wayne Hector are working with Vietnamese-Australian singer/composer Thanh Bui, who made it to Top 8 of the 2008 Australian Idol, for their mutual music project.
Junior and Hector started their Vietnam visit on Wednesday.
They are also eyeing the Vietnamese music market for potential and opportunities.
AJ Junior, Wayne Hector, and Thanh Bui will co-write music pieces to be included in Bui’s new album, which is set to be released by the end of this year.
“A hit song isn’t only a good song, but is performed by a singer who owns a distinctive voice and can make differences. It also takes constant efforts, even during sleeping hours, to win audiences over. I can see all these elements in Thanh Bui, and am set on accompanying him on his road to bring Vietnamese music to the world,” AJ Junior shared.
He added that during their stay in Vietnam, AJ Junior and Wayne Hector will explore Vietnamese culture, cuisine, and people, and hopefully his fresh experiences will offer him new inspirations for Lopez’s new album, which he is currently working on.
Thanh Bui’s cooperation with AJ Junior and Wayne Hector is his latest step toward realizing his dream of promoting Vietnamese music on the international stage.
One of his new songs, “Just like you,” which features Filipino singer JR, made an impressive debut in 15 Asian countries early last month.
The song, which was recorded in the Philippines and edited in the U.S., is the result of Thanh Bui’s collaboration with Filipino-American rapper Apl.de.ap of Grammy-winning American hip hop group “The Black Eyed Peas.”
The Vietnamese-Australian singer/songwriter also came closer to his global dream by selling his new song, “Danger,” to South Korea’s most-loved BTS band.
The piece currently lands in the Top 10 of South Korea’s music charts and eyes the American Billboards.
Thanh Bui is also working to launch Soul Club as part of his current Soul Music Academy, a Ho Chi Minh City-based music training center.
Soul Club is modeled after the U.S.’s Mickey Mouse Club, which has nurtured generations of talented singers including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, and Justin Timberlake.
Thanh Bui shared that his greatest ambition is to write a Grammy-winning song in the coming time.
AJ Junior has written and co-written many charting hits which appeared on the official charts in many countries.
Notable artists whom he has worked with include Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull in "On the Floor," "Dance Again," and "Live It Up."
The list of such artists extends to Cher Lloyd, Nicole Scherzinger, Shayne Ward, JLS, Taio Cruz, One Direction, Havana Brown, and Skitszo.
Wayne Hector is best known for his work with pop artists such as Nicki Minaj, One Direction, The Wanted, and Olly Murs.
He also wrote seven of Westlife's number-one singles, including “World of Our Own” and “Flying Without Wings.”
Ruben Studdard's cover of Wayne Hector’s “Flying Without Wings” landed at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
