A new contemporary art center, considered the biggest of its kind in Ho Chi Minh City, was inaugurated on Friday, providing a new playground for local enthusiasts.

The Factory Contemporary Art Center (FCAC), located in Thao Dien Ward, District 2, features an art reading venue, rooms for group work, and a coffee lounge, besides space for art exhibitions.

The art space, spanning more than 1,000 square meters, marked its opening with a marathon artistic display running in six weeks from Friday.

The exhibition showcases art pieces created by a group of tech-savvy artists called TechNoPhobe.

The group members include Uudam Tran Nguyen, Truc-Anh, Le Thanh Tung, Cao Hoang Long, Nguyen Hong Ngoc Nau, and Thierry Bernard-Gotteland.

TechNoPhobe will showcase their works, created with state-of-the-art technology such as 3D printing, video holograms, whose presentations also feature audio-visual interactive effects.

During the six-week event, expo-goers can also attend admission-free workshops and talks to have deeper insight into contemporary art.

A similar art venue with the same model is expected to be set up in Hanoi, according to FCAC founder, fashion designer Ti-a Thuy Nguyen.

Ho Chi Minh City is home to many contemporary art centers, including San Art, Dia Project, Zero Station, and Saigon Outcast.
