The fifth edition of the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival officially commenced during a ceremony on Saturday evening and is scheduled to last until March 25.
The ceremony was held at the iconic Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street to kick off this year’s festival, which is themed “The graceful Ao Dai of Ho Chi Minh City.”

The event is organized by the municipal Department of Tourism with a variety of activities from March 3 to 25.
The Ao Dai Festival has been an annual event in the southern metropolis since 2014, aimed at honoring the traditional gown of Vietnamese women as well as promoting its value in the eyes of international visitors.

“This cultural event plays a significant role in the city’s tourism development,” Tran Vinh Tuyen, vice-chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, remarked at the opening ceremony.
The festival includes several main activities, including an ao dai fashion show and art performances at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street at 7:00 am and 7:00 pm on Sunday, and an ao dai exhibition at the Youth Culture House from March 1 to 7.
