Vietnam’s representative to the Miss Grand International 2018 beauty contest ended her run in the Top 10, shortly before a finale that shocked audiences when the winner collapsed just seconds after her name was announced.

Miss Vietnam 2018 first runner-up Bui Phuong Nga joined 75 other international candidates to compete at the Miss Grand International 2018 final night, the sixth edition of the prestigious pageant which calls for peace across the world, in Myanmar on Thursday night.

The show began with all 76 finalists parading in black costumes alongside the reigning winner, Peru’s María Jose Lora, before the Top 20 finalists were announced.

Although Nga’s name was not among those called for the Top 20, the 21-year-old Vietnamese beauty was lucky enough to skip the quarterfinals and move directly into the Top 10 as the night’s Miss Popular after garnering the most online votes.

In the semifinals, the contestants took to the runway in their mesmerizing evening gowns before the presentation segment.

Nga was the last to speak during the segment, and, unfortunately, was not able to wow her way into the Top 5.

At Thursday’s finale, the winner of national costume was also awarded to Miss Grand Peru 2018 Andrea Moberg.

Best Swimsuit went to Miss Grand Cuba 2018 Gladys Carrodeguas, Miss Grand Indonesia 2018 Nadia Purwoko won the Best Social Media prize, and Miss Grand Thailand 2018 Moss Namoey Chanaphan claimed the Best Evening Gown.

The highlight of the event in Yangon was the moment when Paraguay's Clara Sosa was crowned Miss Grand International 2018.

Sosa collapsed in shock just seconds after the announcement. Fortunately, the Paraguayan beauty was able to recompose herself just a minute or two afterward and properly took her first walk as the winner.
