Ao dai featuring a variety of colors, patterns, and designs wowed the audience during the opening ceremony of the sixth Ao Dai Festival in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday evening.
The event took place at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1, commencing the annual fest which will last until March 17.
A series of activities including design contests, parades, and photo exhibitions are expected to be carried out across the famous spots of the southern metropolis, namely Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, the Bui Vien pedestrian zone, the city’s post office, and the War Remnants Museum.

Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’Hen Nie, who sealed a historic top-five place at Miss Universe 2018, is the representative of this year’s festival.
The opening night was joined by many actors, singers, and celebrities who are ambassadors of the event.
A total of 17 ao dai collections from 26 local and international designers were also performed on the stage.

A procession was scheduled to take place on Sunday morning with the participation of over 3,000 performers, including those from the audience.
The final round of the ao dai design contest will be held at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street at 5:00 pm on the same day.
