Vietnamese designer Ho Tran Da Thao has introduced her country’s heritage to the world through a fashion collection she debuted at Penang Fashion Week in Malaysia earlier this month.
Thao’s Dau Ann Duong Dai, or “Contemporary Marks," collection features dresses inspired by some of Vietnam’s most awe-inspiring sights.
Thao, who owns the TSAFARI fashion label, says her own travel experience has also helped shape her artwork.
“This collection started to come together after I toured the country,” the designer said.
“I wanted to keep a record of the impressions I got from Vietnam’s beautiful landscape and landmarks so that I could introduce them to others through elegant outfits.”

Thao’s dresses spotlight several of the country’s national landmarks, including Ben Thanh Market and the city hall of Ho Chi Minh City, villages in northern Vietnam, and lakes covered with lotus flowers.
As a contrast to her previous collections, the Dau An Duong Dai collection is simple and minimalistic, predominantly featuring white, blue, black, and green.
The accessories worn by her models included bold and bright orange, yellow, and blue in order to accentuate female strength, confidence, optimism, and beauty.
