A Vietnamese delegation led by Transport Minister Dinh La Thang attended the Singapore Airshow Aviation Leadership Summit (SAALS) and the ASEAN-EU Aviation Summit from February 10-12 in Singapore. The SAALS, which was attended by policy-makers, government officials and leaders of aviation in Asia-Pacific, was aimed at promoting political, technical and industrial cooperation in the field of aviation between ASEAN and the EU.

Speaking at the summit event, Vice President of the European Commission in charge of Transport Siim Kallas said the summit marks an initial step in a new era of cooperation between the EU and ASEAN. During the event, many issues including market prospects in ASEAN and the EU, the establishment of single aviation markets, experience of the two blocs, as well as how to remove trade barriers were discussed between representatives from airlines, airports, air traffic service providers, and government officials. At the ASEAN-EU Aviation Summit, Minister Thang delivered a speech on aviation safety issues.
