Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived in Vientiane on Wednesday morning to begin his two-day official visit to Laos at the invitation of Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.
PM Chinh was welcomed at Wattay International Airport by leaders of the Office of the Lao Prime Minister and the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of Laos to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang, Ambassador of Vietnam to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung, and some representatives of the Vietnamese community there.

This is Chinh's first visit to Laos after assuming his prime minister position. He is also the first foreign leader to visit Laos in 2023.
During the trip, PM Chinh and PM Siphandone will co-chair the 45th meeting of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee and a ceremony to conclude the Vietnam - Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Vietnamese premier is expected to meet with leaders of the Lao Party, the state, and the National Assembly, and visit a number of former senior leaders of Laos.

He will also attend the Vietnam - Laos Investment Cooperation Conference, visit the Vietnamese Embassy, and meet the Vietnamese community in Laos.
The 45th meeting of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee is considered very important as the two sides will evaluate their achievements, existing problems, and the risks that the two countries are facing.
Both sides will discuss joint solutions and measures to boost economic and trade cooperation.
