Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich will pay an official visit to Vietnam on Sunday at the invitation of Vuong Dinh Hue, chairman of Vietnam’s lawmaking National Assembly.
As part of his two-day visit, the Russian official will co-chair the second session of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee between the National Assembly and the State Duma, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
The visit will mark the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia.
Victorovich visited Vietnam in late 2018.
During the visit, top officials from the two nations underscored that it helped boost the exchange of high-ranking officials and deepen bilateral relations.
Also during the 2018 visit, the two sides cut a deal to establish the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee between the National Assembly and the State Duma.
This was the first time Vietnam’s National Assembly had set up an inter-parliamentary cooperation committee with a nation.
Accordingly, Vietnam and Russia were expected to beef up their partnership in various potential fields, mainly parliamentary activities, and shore up their long-standing traditional friendship and relationship.
