Ngo Thi Man, spouse of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, and Prof. Peng Liyuan, spouse of Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, paid a visit to the Vietnamese Women’s Museum in Hanoi on Tuesday.
Xi, along with his spouse, arrived in Hanoi on Tuesday afternoon for a state visit to Vietnam lasting until Wednesday.
After a welcome ceremony for Xi and Peng on the same day, Man and Peng visited the Vietnamese Women’s Museum, enjoyed tea, and watched an ao dai (Vietnam's traditional long gown) show as well as art performances there.

The two women explored the exhibition room and were introduced to documents and exhibits on display in the museum.
Prof. Peng extended her gratitude to the spouse of Vietnamese Party chief Trong for taking her to the museum where she was provided with information about the role and position of Vietnamese women, as well as their bravery and tolerance.
Peng also highly valued the importance of education in changing the status of women in Vietnam after their talks with some schoolgirls.
Some performances in various traditional Vietnamese musical styles were staged to delight Man and Peng.

Born in Shandong, a coastal province in eastern China, in 1962, Peng was a major general of the People's Liberation Army from 1980 to 2017.
She also served as president of the People's Liberation Army Academy of Art from 2012 to 2017.
She is a Chinese soprano and contemporary folk singer.
Peng is a goodwill ambassador of the World Health Organization for Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.
She is also a special ambassador of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for female girl and adult education.
In 2013, Peng was listed as the 54th Most Powerful Woman in the world by Forbes, as reported by South China Morning Post.
