Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is slated to speak and chair several discussions at the 15th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting of the New Champions in China’s Dalian City on June 24-27, contributing to the event’s success and promoting Vietnam’s image in the world, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai.

PM Chinh will arrive in China on Monday to attend the event and also have working sessions with Chinese officials at the invitation of Chinese PM Li Qiang and WEF founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab, Ambassador Mai said recently.

As one of the most important annual events in the Asia-Pacific region, this year’s meeting will bring together 1,500 global leaders from business, government, civil society, international organizations, academia, and media to discuss new models for relaunching economies, with a strong focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, the WEF’s website stated.

“The fact that the Vietnamese government leader has been invited to attend the event for two consecutive years demonstrates the high appreciation of the WEF and the international business community for Vietnam’s role in and its contributions to global and regional economic development,” Ambassador Mai commented.

PM Chinh is scheduled to deliver a special speech at the opening plenary session of the meeting, which is centered around ‘Next Frontiers for Growth,’ the diplomat said.

The meeting will be accessible to the public through the live-streaming of over 50 sessions, including the opening plenary, the China economic outlook, and cooperation in a competitive world, according to the WEF’s website.

These sessions will focus on six thematic pillars, including ‘a new global economy,’ ‘China and the world,’ ‘entrepreneurship in the age of AI,’ ‘new frontiers for industries,’ ‘investing in people,’ and ‘connecting climate, nature, and energy.’

PM Chinh will also chair a number of discussions and dialogues with large economic corporations and innovative businesses, focusing on cooperation opportunities, new solutions to global development issues, and Vietnam’s economic development strategy, stated Ambassador Mai.

In addition, he will have bilateral contact activities with a number of leaders of countries, international organizations, and large corporations.

“I believe that PM Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation will remarkably contribute to the success of the annual event,” said the ambassador.

The PM’s participation in the meeting will open up new opportunities for the Vietnamese economy to interact with and integrate into the global economy, the diplomat commented.

As the world's economic growth slows down and faces numerous risks and challenges, PM Chinh will present Vietnam’s assessments and perspectives on prospects, challenges, trends, and new development models for the global economy in both the short and long terms, Mai stated.

The PM will also showcase Vietnam’s prominent socio-economic development achievements, emphasizing the image of a dynamic, self-confident, and actively integrated Vietnam that is attractive to global corporations.

Ambassador Mai stated that through the event, Vietnam has the opportunity to contribute to solving common global challenges such as promoting growth, developing new industries, responding to climate change, and ensuring food security.

This participation will help Vietnam further promote its relations with other countries, partners, and international organizations, enhancing its position and prestige on the international stage.

Regarding the Vietnam-China relationship, Ambassador Mai highlighted that the upcoming 15th WEF Annual Meeting of the New Champions will mark the second consecutive time that PM Chinh has attended the event, underscoring the high respect that the Party and government of Vietnam have for the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

This trip will involve in-depth discussions between the government chiefs of the two countries on specific measures to effectively implement the agreements reached by their highest-level leaders.
