Politics:

-- New Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria Hoang Ngoc has presented President Truong Tan Sang’s credentials to Nigerian President Goodluck Johnathan, vowing to further boost friendship and cooperation between the two countries to match aspirations and benefits of the two peoples.

-- Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile cum Ecuador Ha Thi Ngoc Ha has presented her credentials to President of Ecuador Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado, promising to bring ties between the two countries, especially in economics, trade, investment and diplomacy, to a new height in the time to come.

-- Developments of the Vietnam-Republic of Korea diplomatic ties over the past 20 years have created a firm foundation for the two countries’ relations to grow further in the future, according to a recent ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City to mark the 4344th National Foundation Day of South Korea.

Society:

-- Tram Be, deputy chairman of Sacombank, said the stuffed rhino with the lost horn showcased at his house in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh is belong to another man, named Ngo Thanh Nhan who was licensed to hunt the animal by local authorities of Mpumalanga in South Africa in 2006.

Business:

-- Information technology hardware and electronics have witnessed a high growth rate in Vietnam but local companies are struggling against foreign-invested firms to get a foothold in their own market.

-- Vietnam’s foreign reserves have surged from a level of just $9 billion last year to $20 billion at the end of last month, equivalent to 2.4 months of imports and the highest level since 2009, according to Asian Development Bank figures recently released in the bank's report, Asian Development Outlook 2012.

-- A multi-ministry team, including representatives from construction, finance, government office, investment and planning and natural resources and environment ministries, has begun to inspect real estate projects in cities and provinces across Vietnam to determine which to close down, said Deputy Construction Minister Nguyen Tran Nam.

-- Six local cooking gas wholesalers have registered to the Price Management Department under the Ministry o Finance to raise the retail prices for their products.
