Politics:

- On November 26, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received the Chief of General Staff of Bulgarian Armed Forces, Simeon Hristov Simeonov in Hanoi. At the reception, the Prime Minister highlighted the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria over the past time.

- Deputy Defence Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and his Japanese counterpart Hironori Kanazawa co-chaired the first Vietnam-Japan strategic defence dialogue in Hanoi on November 26. The two sides agreed that Vietnam-Japan relations have deepened in all fields, and defence cooperation continues to see positive development.

Society:

- Ho Chi Minh City Police has recently launched a campaign to tighten the city’s security after a number of savage robberies happen around the city, frightening local residents.

- Police is investigating the accident at the Dak Mek 3 hydropower project at the Dak Glei District in Kon Tum caused after a dump truck collided with the dam the hydropower plant, breaking most of the dam and killing the driver four days ago, bringing into question the construction’s quality.

- Saigon Railway Station will start to sell tickets for Tet holiday as of next month at the station as well as at www.vetau.com. The Tet holiday (the Lunar New Year) will falls on February 10 next year.

- The Prime Minister has recently approved to increase the traffic toll as the proposition of the Ministry of Transport. Specifically, the toll for under-12-seat cars will increase from VND10,000 to VND35,000 a turn while 18-ton trucks will have to pay VND280,000 a turn, instead of VND80,000 like before.

Business:

- Binh Thanh District’s Market Management Team has discovered nearly 50,000 products thought to be smuggled at the store of Dat Vang VN Ltd., Co. on Nguyen Xi Street, after Tuoi Tre correspondents detected many Chinese goods in the store have been disguised into Vietnamese products to dupe consumers.

Lifestyle:

- A special dress made of around 2,000 condoms and nearly 1,000 LED lights has been showcased at the second period of the campaign Binh Thuong Hoa Bao Cao Su (Normalizing Condom) in HCMC on November 26. The dress was designed by Nguyen Minh Tuan, former student of Van Lang University for his graduating project.

- On November 26, the People’s Committee of Hue City announced to establish the Hue Cultural Museum. The new museum is upgraded from the Hue Museum which was built in 1989.

Sports:

- On November 24, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee approved the project to establish Hoa Lu Sports Center at the Hoa Lu Stadium in District 1. Also, Yet Kieu Water Sports Center has recently been also established at Yet Kieu Swimming Pool in District 1.
