Vietnam’s LGBT community event Viet Pride 2013 attracted hundreds of homosexuals and bisexuals who paraded and participated in activities held at the HCMC Labor Culture Palace to support equal rights this weekend.
Besides a parade, other activities including a talk show, photo exhibition, and movie screenings were also held on August 24th and 25th. The event was also organized in other big cities such as Hanoi, Can Tho and Da Nang by Information Connecting and Sharing (ICS), an organization which assures and supports LGBT community rights in Vietnam.
More than 4,000 participants took part in HCMC’s two-day event, according to Huynh Minh Thao, communication and service manager of ICS.
Viet Pride is an annual event which was first held by ICS in Hanoi last year. The event aims to eliminate the gap between the LGBT community and the rest of society, as well as support equal rights.
