Vietnam has carried out many important policies on gender equality in order to guarantee social security for people, especially boys and girls, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen told a dialogue on Monday.
The minister was speaking at a ‘Policy Dialogue on Increasing the Inclusion of Women and Girls in the Social Protection System: A Development Priority,’ held on March 31 in Hanoi.
Addressing the event, Under-Secretary General and Executive Director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka said that social security is the foundation of gender equality that ensures the granting of sufficient rights for women and girls. During the dialogue, delegates discussed four fundamental policy groups of social security, including guaranteeing minimum incomes and jobs and enhancing social insurance. They also touched on social assistance and access to basic social services for women and girls, shared experience to improve women’s livelihoods, and addressed other issues.
