Coast guard ship with helipad launched in central Vietnam

An advanced coast guard boat, with a helipad on board, was launched in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang last Saturday.

>> Brave Youth badge presented to 163 Vietnamese coast guard members>> Vietnam Coast Guard receives $570,000 high-speed craft The Song Thu Corporation, under the Ministry of Defense’s Industrial General Department, conducted the launching ceremony for the vessel, CSB 8002, at Song Thu Port in the city.   The boat, a multifunctional police boat, meets all international standards for vessels of its kind. CSB 8002 has a helicopter landing pad on board and is equipped with four cannons:two 23 mm guns, and two 14.5 mm guns.  The vessel has full health facilities including an emergency room, an operating room, and a advanced medical equipment and supplies. The boat can sail at a maximum speed of 21 nautical miles per hour and can survive winds of up to 133 kph.

It can operate for 40 days at a range of 5,000 nautical miles. Major General Nguyen Van Tuong, political commissar of the High Command of the Vietnam Coast Guard, said the vessel has been assigned to the Command of Vietnam Coast Guard of Zone 2  Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung said that the Song Thu Corporation will continue to build other advanced coast guard vessels that can operate at sea, as well as in dangerous weather conditions. In related news, the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) on October 3 announced a decision to change the names of VCG of Zone 1, 2, 3 and 4 into the Command of VCG of Zone 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively. At the same time, the VGB also changed the title of Commanding Officers of VCG Zones 1, 2, 3 and 4 into Commander of the Command of Zones 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively.
