A Vietnam court has sentenced a local man to three years in jail for photographing prostitutes and posting their images along with introductory articles about them on the Internet. Tran Quang Huy, 35, of the northern province of Ninh Binh, received the sentence at the trial opened by the Hanoi People’s Court on Monday for him and a related pimp, Nguyen Thi Thu Hoa, also 35, of the central province of Nghe An. Both Huy and Hoa were charged with “procuring prostitutes” pursuant to Article 255 of the Penal Code, the court said. Hoa was sentenced to eight months in prison. According to the indictment, many prostitutes had paid Huy VND2 million (US$92) per month since late 2012 to introduce their information and images on the Internet. He later, under different names, wrote articles to introduce his clients, along with posting their racy photos on sex websites to help the prostitutes seek customers online. In November 2014, police caught two prostitutes serving two men at a hotel on Tran Duy Hung street in Hanoi. From the testimonies of these sex workers, police arrested Huy and Hoa – the procurers of these two sex workers. From late 2012 until his arrest, Huy photographed about 20 sex workers at many hotels in Hanoi.
