Heavy rain and flash floods are expected to sweep provinces and cities from the north to central regions of Vietnam over the weekend.
Thanks to the southward movement of a northern weather trough on Tuesday, northern and central areas are predicted to experience rainy periods with total rainfall anticipated at 100-200 millimeters from Wednesday to Sunday, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF).
Cities and towns in northern and north-central regions can expect downpours and high winds from Wednesday evening onward, with a high chance of flash floods and landslides, particularly in mountainous areas and those to the west of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An Provinces.
Due to southwesterly winds, southern maritime areas from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau Provinces are set to experience rough seas with waves 2-3 meters in height and winds at 5-6 on the Beaufort scale on Wednesday, the NCHMF forecast.
