-- Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City are reviewing a proposal in which local consumers will be able to access information regarding the origins of such food as chickens, eggs, and vegetables.

-- According to the National Committee for Traffic Safety, a total of 34 traffic accidents occurred on New Year’s Day, claiming 33 lives and injuring 22 others. Offices also dealt with some 2,454 traffic violations on Sunday.

-- Three people in Dak Nong Province, located in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, were killed after their boat capsized in the middle of a reservoir on Sunday morning.

-- Several employees at Ho Chi Minh City gas stations have been found using dishonest tricks to give their customers insufficient amounts of change in order to earn themselves some extra cash.

-- Travel agents in Vietnam have been busy preparing for tours as travel demand skyrockets given that the Tet holiday is near.

-- According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam exported about 4.88 million metric tons of rice, worth US$2.2 billion, in 2016, about 25.8 percent lower than the previous year.
