A driver ploughed his car onto a sidewalk in Kon Tum City, the heart of the namesake Central Highlands province, on the weekend, destroying parts of two local residences.
Around 1:30 pm on Saturday, following a minor collision with an automobile bearing a Laotian license plate, a seven-seater car veered onto a sidewalk on Phan Dinh Phung Street in Quang Trung Ward.
The car knocked over the steel retractable door of a cosmetics shop and a neighboring construction material store.
The crash left a motorbike inside one of the residences overturning and damaged, and furniture and plaster in disarray.
The driver quickly left the scene after the accident.
Witnesses said the driver was alone in his car at the point of the collision, and suspected he had been under the influence.
The accident caused chaos and traffic congestion on the street section.
