Two dead in hair salon fire in Ho Chi Minh City

A man and a woman were found dead after their hair salon caught fire in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday.

The fire was reported to occur sometime before 11:00 pm at a small hair salon, about 16 square meters, on Tran Thi Bay Street in Hiep Thanh Ward, District 12.

Residents living nearby were quick to react, calling the firefighters and trying to subdue the flames with handheld extinguishers.

Fire brigades responded to the call and put out the fire soon afterward.

However, two people were found dead when rescuers broke into the salon.

The victims were identified as Oanh, 30, from Dak Lak Province, and her husband Nhat, 32, also from the province.

Police have cooperated with experts in examining the scene and investigating the cause of the fire, which has not been determined as of yet.
