An international-standard pediatrics hospital was officially inaugurated on Friday in a rural district of Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital, located at 15 Tran Van Chi Street in Binh Chanh District, has been put into full operation after nearly two year of construction with a huge investment of VND4.5 trillion (US$198 million).
The hospital already opened its clinical and emergency departments in January 2017.
According to Dr. Truong Quang Dinh, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital, the hospital carries out general health checkups for 1,200 – 1,300 children and receives 350-400 inpatients on a daily basis.
“The hospital is the most modern children’s hospital in Vietnam and the largest-ever built in the southern hub since 1975,” Dinh said.
The 1,000-bed hospital spans an area of 93,000 square meters, comprising of one basement, a three-story building for 39 clinical departments and an eight-story building.
The hospital has ten functional departments and the ward of infectious diseases is assigned to a separate location.
It is equipped with an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation machine (ECMO), which is similar to a heart-lung bypass machine used in open-heart surgery.
It is the first hospital in Ho Chi Minh City to have a nuclear medicine unit for children.
There is also a playground for the children patients, and even a helipad on top of its highest building.
