A woman has been detained for investigation after a video capturing her cruelly abusing her own child went viral on social media in Vietnam.

Saturday's initial investigation indicated that N.T.T.T., 31, temporarily residing in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province had showed signs of crime for mistreating or abusing children.

Earlier, a video shared over social media on Friday night showed a little boy being beaten by a woman who was later identified as his own mother.

In the footage captured in a house on D10 Street, Thu Dau Mot City's Hoa Phu Ward, the woman put a lasso onto the child’s neck before hitting him constantly in his face and head.

The little boy collapsing and crying bitterly did not stop the woman from beating him, as she held his head up and continued her act.

She even pushed him hard onto the floor.

In a state of agitation, she yelled “I’m insane” before smashing furniture and quarreling with the man who was shooting the video.

The video also showed a young girl crying as she was witnessing his younger brother beaten up by their mother.

Aware of the incident, T.’s parents were those who reported to local authorities.

N.T.T.T. has been isolated from her two children, aged four and six.

Local authorities consider taking the children to their grandparents for care.

T. was once fined for beating her children.
