— Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc held phone talks with U.S. President Donald Trump from Hanoi on Wednesday at the request of the U.S. side, during which Trump highly valued Vietnam’s COVID-19 response and thanked the Southeast Asian country for expediting the transportation of medical equipment to the U.S. as well as presenting the nation with face masks.

— Vietnam logged no new cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Thursday morning. The tally is at 271, with 232 recoveries.
— Beaches in the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau have been reopened to the public from Thursday after being closed for more than a month due to COVID-19.
— Police in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa on Wednesday detained five suspects allegedly involved in the illegal sale of 230 kilograms of industrial explosives and 500 meters of slow-burning fuses.
— The People’s Committee of Hanoi has approved a plan to build an over 7.4-hectare coach station in Dong Anh District to become the largest of its kind in the Vietnamese capital city.
— The Drug Administration of Vietnam has issued a decision to resume the export of 37 medicine products that has been suspended since April 16, as they are reserved for domestic use during the COVID-19 pandemic.
— The Ministry of Transport on Wednesday decided to remove COVID-19 prevention regulations that required passengers be distanced from one another on buses, taxis, contracted cars, coaches, trains, airplanes, and ships, starting from Thursday.
— Police in Hanoi on Wednesday started legal proceedings against an import-export company at Phu Thi Industrial Park in Gia Lam District for “violating regulations on fire prevention and fighting,” leading to three people killed in a fire that had broken out there on the same day.
— A deliveryman in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong was stabbed several times by his customer’s son and hospitalized in a critical condition earlier this week, following a dispute over pick-up point changes.
