A 17-year-old boy died on Friday after being shot by a friend he was drinking with at a party in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang.

Nguyen Huu Dang, 17, living in Hoa Khanh Commune, located in Tien Giang’s Cai Be District, and three other men attended a drinking party hosted by Huynh Ai Nhan, 24, in the same commune at 11:00 pm on Thursday, according to a source.

While the party was going on, Dang made an excuse that he was too tired to drink anymore to leave Nhan’s house.

In response, Nhan told Dang that the 17-year-old will get a gunshot unless he continued drinking.

Nhan then abruptly took out an object that looked like a gun and shot Dang, making him collapse on the spot.

Dang was rushed to the Tien Giang Central General Hospital.

Doctors said that Dang’s organs in the abdominal cavity were damaged.

He suffered a blood loss shock due to a perforation in the front and back of the stomach, a hole in the pancreas, and an inferior vena cava injury.

Doctors suspected the injuries to be caused by a bullet.

They actively sutured the holes in Dang’s stomach and pancreas.

But the boy passed away at around 5:00 am on Friday.

Nhan fled his house after the incident.

Later, being encouraged by police and his family, he surrendered on the afternoon of the same day.

Police in Tien Giang have held Nhan in custody for 'murder' while continuing to investigate the case.
