Twenty foreigners nabbed on illegal entrance to Vietnam

Three cars fetching a combined 20 illegal migrants were caught by Vietnam’s traffic police while plying on the Hanoi – Hai Phong Expressway on Monday.

The entrance was intercepted at 1:00 am, said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Truong Son, a senior traffic police official. 

Police officers pulled over the suspected car on the Hanoi – Hai Phong Expressway for an inspection after receiving intelligence and requests for assistance from their colleagues in northern Lang Son Province.

They detected 20 foreigners attempting illegal entry into Vietnam.

The illegal migrants as well as the three vehicles carrying them were brought to the headquarters of Lang Son’s police for further investigation.

The police unit is also working on a case of driving under the influence of drugs on the same expressway, Son revealed.

The driver was identified to be Nguyen T.H., a 30-year-old living in coastal Hai Phong City.

He was pulled over at 9:00 pm on Sunday by police officers, and later tested positive for illegal drugs.

In the same patrol shift, police spotted another drug-positive driver on the expressway, who was identified as Nguyen T.D., a 24-year-old living in the northern province Hung Yen.

Officers are processing all aforesaid cases.
