Police in the central Vietnamese province of Quang Nam are hunting for a man who purportedly killed one person and injured three others after attacking them with a knife and two guns.

The provincial Department of Police confirmed on Saturday that Do Xuan Hai, 41, who hails from Tra Duong Commune, Bac Tra My District, has been wanted for murder.

Preliminary investigation showed that Hai had pre-existing money-related conflict with Tran Thi Ly Na, 37, a resident in Bac Tra My Town, located in the namesake district.

At 7:00 pm on November 26, Hai, who was under the influence of alcohol, rode his motorbike to Na’s house, bringing along two handmade guns and a knife.

Na was watching TV with her mother, 53-year-old Tran Thi Lan, and her son, 12-year-old T.D.H., at that time.

Hai pointed his gun at Na, but Lan attempted to stop him by grabbing one of his legs.

The man then took out his knife to attack Lan and H., before shooting Na with the guns and slashed her head and back with the knife.

Hai threw away the knife and one of the guns and headed to the house of 49-year-old Nguyen Thanh Tai, who had also had a conflict with him.

After arriving, he shot Tai and hit the victim’s wife with the gun’s buttstock.

He then threw away his gun, left behind his motorbike, and ran away to the woods.

Among the victims, Tai was killed, while Na and Lan are being treated at the hospital for their critical wounds.

H. has also been hospitalized with less serious injury.
