Vietnam’s Ministry of Health announced 14 COVID-19 recoveries along with one imported infection on Monday.

The total number of recovered patients has reached 1,425 as of Tuesday morning.

The new case is a Vietnamese repatriate who returned from Indonesia.

She landed at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on board flight SQ192 on January 10.

She was quarantined upon arrival as per COVID-19 prevention protocols.

She tested negative for the novel coronavirus on January 11 before being retested on January 23, with the result coming back positive at the Hanoi Center for Disease Control one day later.

The patient is being isolated for treatment at the Dong Anh District branch of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in the capital city.

Vietnam has recorded 1,549 coronavirus cases as of Tuesday morning, including 35 virus-related deaths, according to the health ministry.

The country has recorded no local transmission since December 2.

The government began barring entry to foreign nationals on March 22 but it allows foreign experts, skilled workers, investors, and diplomats to enter the country on a case-by-case basis, subject to mandatory quarantine.

It has also arranged for repatriation flights to bring back citizens stuck in virus-hit countries, all being quarantined upon landing.

Vietnam is quarantining over 20,890 people who either came into close contact with infected patients or entered the country from virus-struck regions.
