A 50-year-old woman was confirmed dead after a house in a medically-isolated alley in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City was engulfed in a conflagration on Friday.

Residents living in Alley No. 163 on Dang Van Bi Street in Thu Duc City’s Truong Tho Ward saw smoke and fire rise from one house of their neighbors at around 7:30 pm on the same day.

They tried to put out the fire, but failed, and had to wait for firefighters and rescuers.

The firefighters swiftly arrived and immediately managed to extinguish the blaze.

At that time, T.T.T.N., a 50-year-old woman stuck inside the burning house, was already dead. Her body was taken out of the house later.

The fire also destroyed much of the property inside.

The cause is under investigation.

Alley No. 163 had been fenced off due to a local COVID-19 infection detected there before the conflagration broke out.
