Relic sites in Hanoi have been allowed to welcome back visitors following a long period of temporary closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The municipal Department of Culture and Sports signed an official document allowing relic sites in the capital city to open to visitors starting Monday.

The agency also asked the administrations every district and town to ensure COVID-19 prevention and control at local relics.

The reopening and activities of these venues must follow the guidance of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and municipal authorities.

All relic sites must provide QR codes for visitors to scan and file health declarations.

Special units must be tasked with controlling the crowds to prevent congestion at the entrance and overcrowding inside the venue.

Disinfectants must be prepared so that visitors can sterilize their hands when entering and exiting these places.

The document also encourages visitors to local relic sites to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Hanoi has recorded more than 172,200 local COVID-19 cases since the fourth virus wave hit Vietnam last April.

Due to the serious outbreak, all relic sites in the city had been shut down since early May the same year.

About 6.9 million out of eight million people in the city have received their first vaccine dose, while above 6.6 million have been jabbed twice, according to the national COVID-19 vaccination portal.

Hanoi has been leading the country in terms of new infections over the past few weeks, with the city’s daily count topping 3,500 on Monday.
