Vietnam adds 151,852 coronavirus infections

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health confirmed 151,852 COVID-19 patients throughout the nation on Wednesday, in addition to 36,902 hospital discharges and 114 virus-related deaths.

The newest cases, including 21 imported and 151,831 domestic transmissions, were logged in all 63 provinces and cities, the health ministry said in a daily report.

Nam Dinh, Bac Giang, and Thai Nguyen Provinces reported 49,957 of the latest local cases, including 41,551 detected on previous days; Hanoi 15,114; Bac Ninh Province 4,698; Nghe An Province 4,329; Quang Ninh Province 3,992; Son La Province 3,672; Vinh Phuc Province 2,934; Ho Chi Minh City 2,746; Hai Phong City 2,510; Quang Binh Province 2,270; Khanh Hoa Province 2,076; Da Nang 1,458; Bac Kan Province 1,224; Ca Mau Province 1,180; Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 1,123; Lam Dong Province 1,059; Binh Duong Province 1,033; and Can Tho City 156.

Vietnam had recorded 114,125 locally-transmitted infections on Tuesday.

The country has documented 3,702,080 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. Above 2.5 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.

Ho Chi Minh City has been the largest epicenter with 538,861 patients, followed by Hanoi with 300,589, Binh Duong Province with 299,327, Dong Nai Province with 101,588, Tay Ninh Province with 91,384, Bac Ninh Province 87,288, Hai Phong City 72,267, Ca Mau Province 64,705, Binh Phuoc Province 60,500, Nghe An Province 63,580, Da Nang with 59,484, Hai Duong Province 58,298, and Can Tho City with 45,355.

Vietnam registered only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.

Hospitals discharged 36,902 patients on Wednesday, taking the national count to 2,516,785.

The toll has reached 40,452, with 114 pathogen-linked fatalities added today. 

Vietnam has found 3,709,481 patients in total since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.

Health workers have given upwards of 195.3 million vaccine doses, including 342,070 shots on Tuesday, since inoculation was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.

More than 178.5 million doses have been administered to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 70,749,702 first shots, 67,470,940 second doses, 14,000,910 additional primary jabs, and 24,855,137 boosters.    

A total of 16,787,108 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,631,426 first doses and 8,155,682 second jabs.
