22,804 additional COVID-19 cases, 28 virus-related fatalities confirmed in Vietnam

22,804 additional COVID-19 cases, 28 virus-related fatalities confirmed in Vietnam

The Ministry of Health announced 22,804 new COVID-19 infections throughout Vietnam on Tuesday, along with 202,184 recoveries and 28 virus-linked deaths.

The newest cases, all domestic transmissions, were detected in all 63 provinces and cities, the health ministry said in a daily report, noting that 17,375 contracted the virus in the community.

Hanoi recorded 1,942 of the latest local cases, Phu Tho Province 1,384, Dak Lak Province 1,092, Nghe An Province 1,046, Bac Giang Province 1,012, Quang Ninh Province 905, Ho Chi Minh City 658, Thai Binh Province 643, Quang Binh Province 486, Lam Dong Province 340, Ha Tinh Province 290, Quang Nam Province 253, Da Nang 235, Vinh Long Province 189, Binh Duong Province 136, Hai Phong City 123, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 85, Khanh Hoa Province 83, and Can Tho City seven.

The Ministry of Health reported 51,924 infections on Monday.

Vietnam has logged 10,265,217 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. Above 8.7 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.

Hanoi is the biggest hotbed with 1,526,417 patients, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 603,128, Nghe An Province 417,687, Binh Duong Province with 381,852, Hai Duong Province 354,241, Bac Ninh Province 334,836, Ca Mau Province 148,586, Tay Ninh Province with 135,116, Hai Phong City 118,598, Binh Phuoc Province 115,768, Dong Nai Province with 106,514, Da Nang with 99,109, and Can Tho City with 49,322.

Vietnam documented only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.

The health ministry registered 202,184 recovered patients on Tuesday, lifting the national count to 8,757,107.

The toll has risen to 42,858, with 28 pathogen-related mortalities added today. 

Vietnam has confirmed 10,272,964 cases in total since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.

Health workers have given close to 208.6 million vaccine doses, including 32,473 shots on Monday, since inoculation was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.

Nearly 191.4 million doses have been administered to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 71,383,300 first shots, 68,491,388 second doses, 15,012,049 additional primary jabs, and 34,974,604 boosters.    

A combined 17,229,279 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,823,693 first doses and 8,405,586 second jabs.
