-- Vietnamese State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception in Hanoi on Saturday for the coaching staff of the Vietnamese men's and women's football teams, who recently won the gold medals at the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

COVID-19 Updates

-- The Ministry of Health documented 1,114 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, raising the national tally to 10,716,361, with 9,439,913 recoveries and 43,078 deaths.


-- Four people from north-central Quang Binh Province drowned while fishing at local rivers in two separate incidents on Friday and Saturday.

-- A large number of valuable equipment belonging to the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway in southern Vietnam have been stolen over the past years, resulting in losses worth over VND11 billion (US$474,100).

-- A big tree measuring about 10 meters tall was uprooted due to heavy rain and strong wind and fell onto a car on Nguyen Thai Binh Street in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday afternoon. No one was harmed as three people inside the car had just left the vehicle.

-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City confirmed on Saturday they were investigating a case where a one-year-old girl died on her way to the hospital on Friday.

-- A hole about 1.2 meters wide appeared on Long Bien Bridge in Hanoi on Saturday morning. Relevant units were later mobilized to deal with the problem on the same day.


-- The first ‘Tren ben duoi thuyen’ Festival kicked off at Binh Dong Wharf in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday, featuring about120 stalls selling fruits and specialties from southern provinces. The fest will last until June 4.
