A car belonging to the Office of the People’s Committee of Vinh Long Province in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, which was carrying the provincial vice-chairwoman on a business trip, crashed into a motorbike, killing a man on the spot on Monday afternoon.

Vinh Long chairman Lu Quang Ngoi said later on Monday night that the provincial People’s Committee sent officials to the victim’s house to provide support.

The victim died immediately on a road leading to National Highway 1 in the province’s Long Ho District after the car, numbered 64A-002.12, encroached on the opposite lane and collided with his motorbike at around 4:00 pm that day.

The provincial vice-chairwoman Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh was riding in the back seat of the car, whose driver’s identity was undisclosed, on her way to Can Tho City for work.

Functional forces arrived at the scene to investigate the deadly accident shortly after.
