-- Typhoon Noru weakened after making landfall in central Vietnam from Da Nang City to Quang Nam Province at 3:30 am on Wednesday, packing winds of 117km per hour. Heavy rains are forecast for the next hours while flash floods and landslides are expected as well.
-- A rain triggered by the circulation of Typhoon Noru coincided with high tide peaking on the Saigon River on Tuesday afternoon, submerging roads and stalling vehicles in Ho Chi Minh City.
-- Vietnam’s investigative security agency arrested and initiated legal proceedings against Nguyen Quang Linh, assistant to Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, on Tuesday on charges of accepting bribes related to repatriation flights during COVID-19 lockdowns.

-- The World Bank has raised its GDP growth forecast for Vietnam this year to 7.2 percent from 5.3 percent in April, while the overall rate of the East Asia and Pacific regions is projected at 3.2 percent.
-- As many as 112,791 firms have been established over the last nine months of 2022, a year-on-year increase of 31.9 percent, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
– Vietnam’s gold price plunged sharply on Tuesday by VND1.3 million (US$55) per tael compared to the previous day, as the precious metal hit a three-year low on the global market.
