7 unidentified human bodies wash ashore on Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island

Police officers announced on Thursday afternoon that they had launched an investigation into the origins of seven unidentified cadavers that had washed ashore on Phu Quoc Island City off Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam.
Local residents from Duong To Commune discovered the first two dead bodies on Bai Truong Beach at around 11:00 am on Thursday and immediately reported the incident to police officers.
The two bodies were swollen and in a state of decomposition, according to a police report.
Five more cadavers were found on the same beach shortly after.
Officers discovered Chinese-issued ID cards in the wallets of two of the victims.
They went on to clarify whether the bodies may have been related to a shipwreck in which nine Chinese nationals had been rescued by local people on Phu Quoc on September 24.
The survivors of the accident said that their fishing boat had 20 members on board when it was wrecked in the Cambodian waters near Vietnam.
The police of Phu Quoc City also called on local people to report any missing relatives in order to facilitate identifying the bodies.
