Many filling stations in Hanoi shut down after running out of stock while those that remained open were packed with people as of Tuesday morning.
At major filling stations in the capital city, customers had to wait for 15-30 minutes for their turn to buy gasoline.
As of 7:30 am, about 50 motorbikes were lining up to purchase fuel at Nam Trieu 03 filling station on Thuy Khe Street in Tay Ho District.

There were only two attendants, while two out of four fuel dispensers at the facility were turned off.
A similar situation was also recorded at Nghia Tan filling station in Cau Giay District.
Nguyen Thi Bang Tuyet, who resides in Cau Giay District, said she was 20 minutes late for work as she was stuck in the long waiting line at the filling station.
“I went to three stations before this one but they were all closed,” Tuyet stated.
