A district in Da Nang City, central Vietnam is still filled with mud three days after it was struck by torrential rains and historic flooding.
Residents and authorities in Lien Chieu District, Da Nang were still busy cleaning up the streets as of Tuesday morning.
The district recorded severe inundation and landslides caused by heavy downpours last week.
After floodwaters receded, a large amount of mud remained on local roads, especially Au Co Street in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, making it very difficult for vehicles to travel through.

Local authorities had to mobilize an excavator to scoop up part of the mud.
Many houses in Lien Chieu District were submerged under water as high as 0.5-1 meter, said Nguyen Thanh Binh, a local resident.
Many household businesses suffered immense losses after their products were soaked, Binh added.
“Others had to spend money fixing their motorbikes following the flooding,” the resident said.

At Thanh Vinh Market, many stalls were damaged, while mud was still covering most of the market’s premises.
Merchants and their family members had to join hands with competent authorities to clean up the market as the volume of mud could reach hundreds of cubic meters, said Le Thi Ha, one of the sellers.
“I just finished cleaning up my house this morning and am now helping remove the mud from the market so that it can reopen as soon as possible,” Ha stated.
A similar situation was also recorded along the streets within Hoa Khanh Industrial Park.
