The Department of Public Security in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai confirmed on Monday that it had stripped a policewoman of her title after she caused a traffic accident while driving a car under the influence of alcohol last Friday night.
The policewoman, Tran Thi Luan, was dismissed from her position as captain of a team at the public security division of Dak Doa District, according to Major General Rah Lan Lam, director of the Department of Public Security of Gia Lai.
The accident occurred at 6:00 pm on Friday, when a five-seater car driven by Luan crashed into a motorbike at a three-way junction in Pleiku, which is adjacent to Dak Doa.
Luan then reversed her car before colliding with another car and stopping.
In a video clip posted on social media by witnesses at the scene, Luan, in a police uniform, showed signs of being drunk and vomited after causing the accident.
When a local asked her if she had been drinking, she answered yes.
The accident caused no casualties but resulted in damage to the three vehicles, according to Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper.
