At 0:00 sharp on Sunday, fireworks were simultaneously displayed at many venues in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang to usher in New Year, attracting thousands of spectators beneath.

In Ho Chi Minh City, fireworks lit up the sky over the entrance of the Saigon River Tunnel in Thu Duc City and above Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11 in the first 15 minutes of January 1, 2023.

Local residents watched the fireworks shows in joy and excitement. They wished a new year filled with peace, health, and happiness.

From Saturday afternoon, tens of thousands of people flocked to the Bach Dang Wharf Park and Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1 and the Saigon River Tunnel area in Thu Duc City to enjoy the pyrotechnic performance.

On Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, people tried to seek a good position to enjoy the Tiger Remix 2023 program, a countdown event.

The program was attended by famous singers, such as Ha Anh Tuan, Toc Tien, Hoang Thuy Linh, Rhymastic, Only C, Ha Nhi, Erik, Tang Duy Tan, and Orange, as well as K-pop singer CL.

Due to the huge crowds on the street, some people fainted over shortness of breath.

At Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11, an artistic program was also held to celebrate the new year from 7:00 pm on Saturday, including a laser light performance, a musical fountain show, and a low-altitude fireworks display.

In addition, a series of artistic programs were held in Thu Duc City and District 12, Tan Phu District, Binh Tan District, Binh Chanh District, Hoc Mon District, Cu Chi District, Nha Be District, and Can Gio District on New Year’s Eve. These programs will continue on Sunday night.

In Hanoi, the Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, one of the two venues for countdown events in the Vietnamese capital, was crowded on New Year’s Eve.

The organizer of the event estimated there were 10,000 people participants but the actual figure might be much higher.

Local residents also enjoyed a drone light show with 100 drones. The drones took off at 11:45 pm on Saturday and formed images of New Year 2023 and the numbers from 10 to 1.

In central Da Nang City, events to ring in 2023 were organized on the Rong (Dragon) Bridge and at the Bien Dong Park.

After many rainy days, the weather on Saturday night in Da Nang was ideal, facilitating countdown events.

Amid the crowds on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in Ho Chi Minh City, 10 people fainted due to their shortness of breath while taking part in a countdown event there.

Nguyen Duy Long, director of the city's 115 Emergency Center, confirmed that the center on Saturday night sent dozens of ambulances to the promenade to give first-aid to the fainted.

After receiving the first-aid, these people regained stable health.

On Saturday night, 10 streets in the downtown area of Ho Chi Minh City were closed to hold New Year celebrations.

Vehicles were banned from entering eight streets in District 1, including Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street and the roads leading to the promenade.
