Two four-year-old boys drowned in a Koi fish pond at their neighbor’s houses in Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam on Wednesday evening.

The two victims were L.K.N. and D.A.K., both four years old, an official in Cao Xanh Ward, Ha Long City confirmed on Thursday morning.

N. and K. left their houses to play at around 5:30 pm on Wednesday, according to preliminary information.

At 6:10 pm, family members began looking for the two boys but they could not find them.

By 7:00 pm the same day, Cao Van Le, who lives in the same neighborhood, discovered the boys’ bodies floating in his Koi pond.

Le rushed the boys to the hospital but they were pronounced dead on arrival.

Local authorities are investigating the case, and officials have provided necessary support for their families.

Le’s Koi pond is about 20 meters wide and one meter deep, VnExpress newspaper reported.

His house is around 20 meters from the boys’ houses.
