A fire broke out at a wet market in Dong Thap Province, southern Vietnam on Saturday morning, completely destroying 14 kiosks, confirmed a local official.
The fire occurred at around 6:00 am at Binh Thanh wet market, Phan Van Phung, vice-chairman of the People’s Committee of Thanh Binh District, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene and put out the fire by 6:50 am the same day.
Aside from the 14 kiosks entirely destroyed, two other ones were half burnt, with total damage estimated at VND2.4 billion (US$102,180), Phung said.
No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The local competent forces also visited and offered encouragement to local households affected by the fire, the official added.
