The southern region of Vietnam is forecast to experience thunderstorms this Thursday, ending the heat wave, Le Thi Xuan Lan, a weather pundit based in southern Vietnam, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
The rainfall will be low but will be accompanied with dangerous conditions.
The hot weather will continue in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region as a whole on the first days of this week.
The highest temperature in the southeastern region was 37-38.3 degrees Celsius on Monday. Meanwhile, the Mekong Delta region reported a temperature ranging between 35.3 and 36.8 degrees Celsius.
However, the ‘real-feel’ temperature was 0.5 to several degrees Celsius higher.
The rainy season is expected to start in the region from May 5 to 15.
Northern and central regions are predicted to suffer an extreme heat wave this summer, Lan added.
