Busy streets leading to a bustling market in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City became a sea of vehicles, creating a massive traffic jam during the peak hour when people were returning home from work on Friday afternoon.
The traffic congestion started at the crossroads of Bach Dang Street, Le Quang Dinh Street, and Bui Huu Nghia Street in front of Ba Chieu Market, a congestion hotspot in Binh Thanh, at around 6:00 pm.
The intersection turned more and more packed when numerous buses were stranded there.
Some bus driver assistants had to get off their buses to regulate traffic in order to help their vehilces exit the gridlock, which lasted for 30 minutes.
