A downpour submerged several streets in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi on Monday after a streak of hot days.
Commuters found it difficult traveling on flooded routes resulting from the torrential rain mixed with poor drainage systems.
A 70-meter section of Nguyen Trai Street in Thanh Xuan District was submerged under 0.15-meter deep rainwater at noon on the same day.
The heavy rain inundated around 100 meters of Bui Xuong Trach Street with a depth of 0.2 meters.
Many other sites, including Vuong Thua Vu Street, Vu Trong Phung - Quan Nhan Intersection, Me Tri Thuong, and Nguyen Tuan Streets, were also flooded.
Hanoi and northern provinces in Vietnam were forecast to experience medium and heavy rains, plus thunderstorms, in the afternoon and evening on Tuesday and Wednesday, with rainfall reaching up to 80 millimeters, according to the national weather center.
Heavy rains hit Ho Chi Minh City, southern Vietnam on Monday afternoon, flooding many streets and slowing traffic.
The southern and Central Highlands regions will also face downpours in the afternoon with a rain volume of up to 40 millimeters on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the central region of Vietnam will experience hot weather in the morning and at noon, but will be battered by rains in the late afternoon and evening on Tuesday and Wednesday.
