Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Aleshovich Kasymaliev is set to pay an official visit to Vietnam on Thursday and Friday at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, according to an announcement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

This will be his first Vietnam visit since he took office in December last year, demonstrating that he cherishes the bilateral ties with Vietnam and highly values the Southeast Asian nation’s role and position in the world.

During his visit, the top Kyrgyz official will attend a welcome ceremony and have talks with PM Chinh, as well as participate in various key events.

In October last year, PM Chinh met Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov at the expanded BRICS Summit in Kazan City of Russia.

The two leaders agreed to effectively cooperate to tap the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, of which Kyrgyzstan is a member.

They also reached a consensus on stronger partnership in the agriculture, education, healthcare, culture, sports, tourism, and aviation fields.

During a phone talk in February with Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Abakirov Meder, Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs  Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that Vietnam always treasures and wishes to strengthen its friendship with traditional partners, including Kyrgyzstan.

She described the recent progress in the two countries’ ties as an important prerequisite for deepening their cooperation across all fields.

Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan established their diplomatic relations on June 4, 1992.

Over the past three decades, the two nations have grasped multiple cooperative opportunities to boost trade, economic, and investment activities.

Located in Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan covers over 200,000 square kilometers and has a population of some 7.2 million people.
