-- Police on Monday arrested one more person involved in armed attacks on the headquarters of the People’s Committees of two communes in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, taking the total number of suspects involved in the case to 27, spokesman of the Ministry of Public Security To An Xo told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

-- Police in Da Nang City, central Vietnam on Monday apprehended a 36-year-old man for allegedly smuggling over 100 metric tons of traditional Chinese medicines to Vietnam from China.

-- A woman in a mushroom poisoning case in Tay Ninh Province, southern Vietnam died on Monday. Earlier, her husband died and her 17-year-old daughter was hospitalized after they ate wild mushrooms stir-fired with sponge gourds.

-- A woman and her 13-year-old daughter died when their motorbike crashed into a container truck in Thu Duc City, under Ho Chi Minh City on Monday. The accident happened when the woman was carrying her daughter to Ho Chi Minh City from southern An Giang Province for the summer holiday.

-- Two surveillance cameras at a public toilet in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City were stolen after the toilet has been put into operation for half a month.

-- Police in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province, a neighbor of Ho Chi Minh City, is investigating a case in which a woman and a man died at a boarding house on Monday. The man was found dead by hanging.

-- Deposits of individual customers at banks in Vietnam have reached some VND6,300 trillion (US$270.9 billion) as of the end of March, the highest-ever, despite falling deposit rates.

-- Ho Chi Minh City maintained its leading position in exports in the first five months of the year, reaching $16.27 billion, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
