The construction authority of Lam Dong Province in Vietnam’s Central Highlands region has turned down a proposal to develop a five-star hotel at a prime location near Xuan Huong Lake, one of the landmarks in the provincial capital of Da Lat.
The provincial Department of Construction sent the rejection to Mount A Service Trading Investment JSC on Wednesday.
Mount A previously sought the department’s green light to build the premium hotel at 11 Tran Quoc Toan Street in Ward 1, which is adjacent to the Tran Quoc Toan - Bui Thi Xuan roundabout, Cu Hill, and the iconic Xuan Huong Lake.

The hotel project would span a 6,400-square-meter plot of land, with seven stories and four basements, the building density being 60 percent, and the density of underground parts being 90 percent, as per the company's plan.
However, the proposal was given the thumbs down after the construction department evaluated the overall architecture of the area.
The proposal does not align with the city’s approved urban zoning plan and design, the department explained.
In addition, the building criteria the company suggested above exceeded the allowable limits.
For instance, the building density in this area must not be higher than 40 percent, while the maximum number of stories for a building built in the area is five.
