-- Police in Dak Lak Province, located in Vietnam’s Central Highlands region, confirmed on Saturday that they had detained three suspects on a special wanted list for their alleged involvement in deadly armed attacks in the province in the early hours of June 11.

-- A 28.8-kilometer four-lane road project connecting Cho Moi District and Bac Kan City in the namesake northern province needs an estimated investment of VND5.75 trillion (US$242.3 million), according to the prefeasibility report for the project that the Ministry of Transport has submitted to the prime minister for approval.

-- Four enterprises illegally trading elephant tusks in Kien Giang Province, southern Vietnam may face a fine totaling VND1.5 billion ($63,465) and see the elephant tusks worth VND86 million ($3,638) confiscated, the provincial market surveillance force said.

-- A coach station in the north of Hai Phong City, northern Vietnam has become a junkyard after operating moderately for five years.

-- The administration in northern Ha Giang Province has decided to suspend bathing activities in Du Gia Waterfall after a tourist drowned there.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has approved a plan to spend over VND8.5 billion ($359,635) hiring a unit to collect garbage from the Saigon River until the end of this year.

-- The High Command of Coast Guard Region 4 under the Vietnam Coast Guard detected two vessels illegally transporting a total of some 295,000 liters of diesel oil in the waters of Vietnam on Tuesday and Saturday.

-- Ha Noi Railway Transport JSC on Friday inaugurated a refrigerated container train at Song Than Station in Binh Duong Province to transport fresh fruits and vegetables from the southern province to Dong Dang Station in the northern border province of Lang Son for transshipment to China.

World News

-- Twenty-two people have died, 14 were missing and thousands evacuated in South Korea as of Saturday, as a third day of torrential rains caused landslides and the overflow of a dam, Reuters reported, citing South Korean ministry data.
