-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City have broken up a prostitution ring led by South Korean people in District 1 that provided sex services for foreigners only, detaining three South Koreans and four Vietnamese.

-- The U.S. is willing to join forces with Vietnam to investigate deadly armed attacks on the headquarters of two communes in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak last month, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper said on Monday. Vietnam had earlier declared the attacks as acts of organized terrorism and the arrested suspects included a member of a U.S.-based organization.

-- Police in Thong Nhat District, Dong Nai Province, a neighbor of Ho Chi Minh City, said on Monday that they had detained the driver of a sleeper bus which collided head-on with a motorbike, killing two siblings on the motorbike on Sunday.

-- A project to upgrade a 2.5-kilometer Luong Dinh Cua Street section in Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City remains incomplete after eight years of construction and has been put on hold as three households have yet to hand over their land, the Transportation Works Construction Investment Project Management Authority of Ho Chi Minh City told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Monday.

-- Deposits of individual customers at banks in Vietnam reached over VND6,300 trillion (US$266.7 billion) as of the end of May, the highest-ever, despite falling deposit rates, according to the State Bank of Vietnam.

-- The Southern Lottery Council has proposed issuing more lottery tickets due to the huge revenue and profit of 21 lottery companies in southern Vietnam in the first half of this year, reaching VND68.8 trillion ($2.9 billion) and nearly VND8.8 trillion ($372.8 million), respectively.

-- The Asian Development Bank on Monday appointed Shantanu Chakraborty as its new country director for Vietnam, succeeding Andrew Jeffries who ended his term on April 27, local media reported.

-- Foreign suppliers, such as Google, Apple, Meta (Facebook), Microsoft, Netflix and TikTok, paid VND3.94 trillion ($169 million) in taxes in the first half of 2023, the Vietnam News Agency cited the General Department of Taxation as saying.
